Elvandar

From BorgWiki

Geography

Towering volcanoes surrounded by lush forests typify the eastern sector of Elvandar. As one moves west, the forests give way to vast plains filled with fertile soil and dotted with small farms. Eventually, the plains themselves give way to more forests, which stretch all the way to the orcish border.

Edhel

Elves, as a whole, are hospitable and welcoming. They form small communities throughout their realm; often in the trees, and rarely larger than a few hundred individuals.

Due to their extended lifespans, they tend to be more patient than most humans. When times are difficult, they're most likely to accept the situation with quiet dignity and work steadily toward rectifying it. When times are good, however, they can be as gregarious as dwarves. They are quick to make simple friends, slow to make both close friends and enemies, and remember who fits into which category for a very long time.

Eledhel

Most elves you'll run into, both within and without Elvandar, are likely to be of this demographic. With skin tones and hair colors running the gamut, they can appear remarkably human, albeit with pointed ears. Depending on where they live, they are most often referred to as "high elves," "wood elves," or just simply "elves."

They form small communities throughout their realm; often in the trees, and rarely larger than a few hundred individuals. You can also find them scattered around in any non-elven community where they feel welcome.

Eldar

Ensconced in their twin cities, the grey elves are the source of most elven technology. More reclusive than other elves, they focus their efforts on the pursuit of knowledge. Like their more common brethren, their features are varied, but they tend towards having a weathered (faded, sun-bleached, or mixed with light-colored ash) appearance.

They are less common, though not completely unknown, outside Elvandar.

Moredhel

The origins of these coal-skinned elves are a mystery. Colloquially referred to as "drow," they are most commonly found in the two great elven cities, where they are easily accepted as part of the community. Rumor has it they have powerful mental abilities.

Places of Note

Cities

Romulus

Inasmuch as Elvandar has one, Romulus is the capital. The city center is an eclectic mix of high-rise living spaces, shops, and restaurants, while the research district is mostly skyscrapers of steel and glass. Electric trams run regularly down major thoroughfares, with passengers hopping on and off at each stop.

Remus

As Romulus is to science and education, Remus is to industry. Rails connect to Romulus and the navy yards to the south, shipping both people and cargo by steam-powered locomotive.

Towns

Cirith

Cirith is a busy town and important trading post. It was built by the elves after encouragement from the Bridgeport government. Its population, while still primarily elves, has a much higher proportion of other races than most elven towns.
